| The current series of posters depict personal stories inspired by, or originating in India, where I traveled with my family and friends during the time of my Indian wedding. Referencing traditional silk painting and craft images from the Indian state of Rajasthan, I juxtapose well-recognized, somewhat naive images with critical content to create a personalized, edited story or narrative with new meaning. The simplicity of the graphic images creates an easily communicable comprehensive form. The images reflect my understanding of an enchanting, but at the same time chaotic and complex, India while interpreting my own apprehensive personal stories. As I search for an inner coexistence of the two cultures, the imagery functions as a translator. |
